Meet Pocahontas

MNG Mango for JCPenny / Another Feather Bangle / Forever 21 Boots
This look I call my modern day Pocahontas.  Completely unintentional, but the mix of the crochet, suede, the braid and a simple gold bangle ended up feeling very Pocahontas.  As unplanned as it was I kind of love it.

Sexy Tired

MNG by Mango for JCPenny Dress / Another Feather Bangle
Trying out different make up can be so much fun and make such different looks.  Sadly, my looks don't differ too much usually.  It's generally a no make up look or subtle cat eye.  Lately, I've been adding Carine Roitfeld's "Sexy Tired" look to the mix.  Kind of smudged a smudged and very not perfect smokey eye.  It makes me feel very dramatic.  Even if my version of it is a little more clean and dialed back.

MIA/MEAP

Hackwith Design House Top / Collective Concepts Skirt / Tahari Shoes / Club Monaco Clutch / J.Crew Cardigan
At MIA Thursday exploring and looking at some new pieces and appreciating some old ones while waiting for the MEAP artists lectures.  It was fun listening to artist Allen Brewer talk a little about how he got to the pieces in his show.  We ended the night with a fun late night shopping event at Martin Patrick.
(And one day I am going to remember to take a detail photo of this top to show the lovely polka dot fabric.)

Club Mint

Club Monaco Sweater and Ring / H&M Pants / Banana Republic Ring / Primp Sunglasses / Nine West Shoes
Spring can be a hard time to dress for.  One day you needs pants and jacket and the next a light sundress.  I always feel like none of my sweaters are spring appropriate.  I want to be light and fresh and all I have are thick, bulky sweaters in fall colors.  I was super happy to find some light, loose knits browsing at Club Monaco.  The mint color of this asymmetrical top is so pretty and it looks great with the pink and white and bright green of early spring.  With a little bit of color a sweater and leather pants on a cool spring day doesn't have to feel like you are still dressing for winter (which I really hate when I can't wait to pull out warm weather items).   I'm also excited to use this as a cover up on cool summer nights.  I have a feeling it will be well worn in by the end of the summer.

All In One

Anthropologie Dress / Vintage Sweater / J.Crew Purse / Lauren Ralph Lauren Shoes / Target Sunglasses and Bracelet / Another Feather Bangle
I really love all the sweet detail of this outfit.  The oversized tulips on the dress are so cute and perfect for a really warm spring day!  The oversized bow bracelet is the perfect sweet accessorie!  I love target jewelry for fun pieces like this.

Hello Rachel Zoe

Asos Jacket / Rachel Zoe Top / Rag & Bone Pants / Prabal Gurung for Target Shoes / Another Feather Bangle
I am all about Rachel Zoe.  I love, love her clothing.  This top from her line was so great for me because it has a little bit of a sporty feel but with with amazing detail that makes it a little more glam.  I don't do too sporty so it's just the right amount for me with cargos and a leather jacket.  The heels and rose print on the jacket keep feminine since I almost always add at least a little feminine glam to my outfits.
Also, I'm so happy to finally be able to wear sandals and sleeveless tops.  The flowers are starting bud and the grass is turning green!  It took a while but spring is finally here!

Flash Metal x 2

Clockwise from top left:  Maison Martin Margiela HeelsJean-Michel Cazabat Sandal / Gianvito Rossi Pumps / Elizabeth and James Heels / Giambattista Valli Pumps / Cynthia Rowley Heels
Grazia.it is always one of my favorite sites to go to for inspiration.  It is one of the few sites that has great coverage across the board.  I love their fashion and beauty articles, but I also love their lifestyle pieces.  One of their recent articles about metal accessories was especially inspiring to me and I've found myself thinking about it many times over the last few weeks.  I loved every single piece they included and looking around a little I realized there were so many other metal inspired accessories out there that I loved just as much.  So this is my edit of metallic shoes and accessories inspired by Grazia's Flash Metal article.
I love how this trend can range from really simple, sexy, or feminine, with the metallic making the piece just a little more luxe or interesting, to a super fun statement piece with the bright colors or holographic detail.  Metallic accessories right now are just a little stronger.  It's more reflective, more colorful, more shiny.  And there's more of it.  I really can't get enough of it.

Prep

Joe Fresh Dress / Fantas Sunglasses
This dress is one of my favorite spring finds.  So much so I got it in two colors. . . . Well worth it though.  I love the super vintage feel of it.  It seems so different and interesting while being so simple.  There's also something very pre-teen about it in a really good way.  Maybe because I feel like it's something my mom would have worn when she was young.  Or because it kind of has the shape of school uniform.  Either way, it's definitely going to get a lot of wear.

Loving Another Feather

The Another Feather jewelry line is one that I've had my eye on for a while now and admired online but had never actually got any pieces from.  This last weekend the line's creator Hannah Ferrara was in town for a Kinfolk event and I was lucky enough to get to see a bunch of her pieces in person and have a little shopping party.  The line was even more amazing than I had thought and I could have gotten so many things.  I ended up coming away with this arc bangle and I could wear it every day.  It can feel really feminine or modern and  geometric or simple and rustic depending on how it's worn and what it's worn with.  That is my favorite thing about Hannah's line.  It is never too much of anything.  I really think anyone could find something that they love.  All the girls I was with that day found something (in not many things) they had to take home and we all have such different, distinct styles. I'm super excited to build up my collection of Another Feather jewelry.  I love the simplicity of my one bangle and the interest it holds alone, but I also love the way her jewelry plays together when you wear multiple pieces.  It also helps that Hannah was one of the sweetest and smartest girls ever.

Chicago

Theory Jacket / Hackwith Design House Top / Primp Skirt / J.Crew Bag / Lauren Ralph Lauren Flats
My short weekend in Chicago was so fun.  Lots of great coffee and food.  We didn't have much time so we didn't really plan much.  Lunch with a friend and walking around shopping and going to art galleries.  I was so happy with the weather.  It allowed for my favorite clothes.  It was that in between weather where you don't have to wear tights but you still need a jacket or a sweater.  It was beautiful.
I've also seen so many tops similar to this one I got last summer from Hackwith Design House, a local Minnesota company, and I still think mine is the best.  I love the detail on the back, the subtle black dot pattern, and the super full peplum.  I love the all the fullness and frill of this outfit with the jacket and shirt's peplums and a super full skirt.  It feels so spring-y and feminine.  Now if only it would stop snowing in Minnesota. . . .
